Saturday, 2 July 2005 Kakemono-e: Standing Bijin Artist: Eisen Format: Vertical oban diptych: 29" x 9.75" overall Subject: An oiran dressed in her Spring finery, including a graded purple and green silk kimono represented by the stylish printing technique of bokashi (color block wiping to produce a graded effect). Her toes are curled and she rounds her shoulders in the sexually seductive stance, called ikki, which was the height of Edo chic in the early 1830's.
