Catalog note / 解説

The sixth month of the lunar calendar was also known as chöka, the hottest and most humid time of summer. Having just come from her bath, a geisha rests on a bench in a garden pierced by the setting sun. There she meets her companion, who has already finished dressing. (Tadashi Kobayashi, Edo Beauties in Ukiyo-e, 1994)
