Catalog note / 解説

October: Silver Pavilion on moonlit night. It was built by shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa as Higashiyama mountain villa in 1482. It became the center of the elegant and lavish Higashiyama culture. The two white sand mounds in front were made to reflect the moon light. After the death of Yoshimasa, it became Jisho temple.
