Catalog note / 解説
This is a genuine Japanese woodblock print by the Osaka master Hirosada, who worked in the mid-nineteenth century. This theatrical scene shows three actors in a snowy setting. The work dates from the 1850s. This chuban triptych is a very good impression with rich, deep colors in very good condition. There is some use of brass pigment in the hibachi and elsewhere. The print is laid down on some early Japanese paper, and there is some slight soil and surface damage. The overall dimensions of the print are about 22 x 10 inches.
