Monday, 10 December 2007 Gekko Zuihitsu Series #3 Lot AU53 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Artist: Ogata Gekko Format: Oban tate-e: 13.75" x 9.5" approx Subject: The great masterpiece from Gekko's fine series Gekko Zuihitsu. Gekko worked as a painter, printmaker and decorator of pottery and lacquerware. His favorite subjects were genre scenes from everday's life. During and after the Sino-Japanese war he produced a considerable number of war prints. Gekko won several prizes at exhibitions.
