Catalog note / 解説
With its restrained colouring and naturalistic figures, this print is typical of the style of Ippitsusai Buncho, who worked between 1760-1792. Although strongly influenced by Harunobu, he possessed his own ideal of a rather serious beauty, perhaps not so graceful and harmonious, but full of spirit. He specialised in pictures of actors (yakusha-e) and beautiful women (bijin-ga). Materials: Colour print from woodblocks
