Catalog note / 解説
"Shinano no Michi" (Road in Shinano). A villager and a horse walk on a desolated country road in Shinano. The region is well known for the isolated villages and deep snow in the harsh winter. After Shiro KASAMATSU left publishers Watanabe and Unsodo, he continued to create prints himself for several decades but never promoted them through exhibitions or gallery affiliations. His sosaku hanga prints are very appealing with their poetic mood and simplicity. Here, he effectively created the snow falling mountain forest by short chisel works.
