This is a beautiful original etching by perhaps the best of the bijin printmakers of the early 20th century, Ito Shinsui. The print is double oban size, very rare, about 18 x 15 plus margins. It bears the correct 6mm Watanabe publisher's seal as indicated in the Shinsui catalog raisonne. It is in good condition, with excellent color and impression; there are some minor handling creases in the margins, likely from the printing process. Very beautiful baren syuji background, the swirly effect caused by rubbing the printing baren in a circular motion.
