"Nagara-gawa, U-kai". Fishermen has been using cormorant for fishing in Nagara River since 7th Century. The cormorant swallows small fish, which are attracted by the torch fire. The fisherman tugs the rope attached to the collar on the cormorant to prevent the fish go farther down the cormorant's throat. Later, he makes the bird regurgitate the fish into his basket.
