Sparrows, 1933 (maybe 1940?) Koitsu (1870? 1949) This wonderful nature scene is a Koitsu classic. Koitsu was among the shin- hanga artists who did wonderful nature subjects like this snowy print with sparrows. Three birds are attracted to the bright berries on the snow covered branch. This Koitsu print was published by the Doi publishers in the 1960's or 70's. It is not a recent release. The print bears the seals “Doi Eiichi and hanken shojo (copywrite reserved)” and the printer seal “kenji seki” indicating an earlier (not recent) printing.
